Important Update
January 2, 2008

Practice resumes Wednesday January 2nd, like normal at normal times and places.

And we have a meet on Saturday Jan 5 ( the mystery meet) vs. Norwell at 1 p.m. warmup time and a 1:30 p.m. start in Middleboro at the Burkland pool.

Norwell is a development team. There children are very new to the meet scene. We are not keeping score but we are keeping tract of places for ribbons and times so the team can qualify for districts.

Change in Swim Schedule
December 11th, 2007

Swim practice will be back at the regular times, at the Burkland pool, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. The only update is that during school vacation, practice will switch back to the YMCA.

IMPORTANT MEETING
December 5th, 2007

Hi Parents,

There will be a meeting on Thursday, Dec 6 at 6:45pm (PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGE) at the Middleboro Y. Please try to attend.

Also, the Burkland pool is open again, but practices will be held at the Y until Thursday to ensure that the pool temp is holds with no further problems.

SCHEDULE CHANGE
November 21th, 2007

Hi Parents and Swimmers,

There was originally an annoucement that we would be practicing on the friday after Thanksgiving. That pactice is now cancelled due to the fact that we had to switch our practices to the Middleboro YMCA and the school pool is still not repaired. The YMCA has another program that is using the pool on friday night. The only alternative is to come to Brockton on friday if you can make it. The Brockton part of our team will be practicing on friday from 3:30 until 5:30

Pizza Party
November 9th, 2007

What a month! Bone-chilling water, moving over to the Y for practice while they work on the pool, the scramble to get a Team Suit ordered, and late nights for the senior swimmers and their folks.

Sounds like time for a breather...

The Y is ordering pizza and water for after the Saturday swim meet

Hmmm... maybe someone could bring a boom box and some music...

Concessions
November 7th, 2007

This year, the YMCA would like parents to follow the following rules regarding concession stand items:

If anyone would like to cook or bake or otherwise hand make an item or items to donate to the concession stand, that is fine. However, in the case of beverages (bottled water, juice, sports drinks, etc.), please go to the YMCA and pick up the PO order for beverages, and then go to one of the four vendors (including Hannafords down the street from the Y) and use the PO to purchase beverages.

Teresa Farley, YMCA aquatic director, plans on speaking to parents in the next few weeks about YMCA procedures. This would be an excellent time to ask questions and express your own concerns to Ms. Farley.

Practice Meet
November 7th, 2007

Hi Parents and Swimmers,

We will be having a Practice Meet this Saturday November 10 instead of the originally scheduled Friday November 9. The meet will be at the Middleboro YMCA, 61 Grove Street 02346. The meet will be at 5:30 p.m. Please note that the meet will not be at the Burkland School site because the water temperture is only 68 and we have had to move all swim team practices to the Main YMCA site in Middleboro. Call me at 508-904-9811 if you have any questions.

More on the Team Suit
October 29, 2007

Apparently there has been some confusion regarding the team suit.

I had sent out an e-mail saying that you didn't have to pay for the suit at the time you ordered it because, between volume discounts and shipping and handling, I had no way of knowing what the cost per suit would be until I had everyone's order. That's why I asked people to submit their order as soon as possible. We got the last order in yesterday. Mike was going to call the vendor today and get a price.

We do have to pay for the suits before we place the order. I apologize for any confusion this has caused.

Please make your payment ASAP, if you haven't already.

Girl's Suit = $33.00

Boys Jammers = $23.00

And yes! We got a very good discount!
(for the past 5 years I've paid over $60.00 for a girl's suit!)

Updates
September 24, 2007

It was great to see so many new and returning swimmers at the September 18th meeting!

Updates have been made to the fees, contact, training and coaching pages to reflect the new season.

The newest changes to the team are incoming Aquatic Coordinator Teresa Farley and Association Head Swim Team Coach Mike Lozano, who will manage the Sea Devils along with returning coach Mike Dudek.

Another big change coming this season is the new competitive structure. While the Sea Devils will remain the Sea Devils, when competing against another team, we will be joined by swimmers from other Old Colony YMCA teams and compete under the name Old Colony Storm. This way, we should have enough swimmers so that all team members can compete in three heats per meet, instead of two.

Please contact Mike Lozano if you have any questions about the team, the new season, or about signing up.

Advance 'early practices' have already begun Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Middleboro YMCA pool. To participate in these early practices your swimmer needs to be registered and paid up for the first month.

Click here to print out a sign-up packet! You'll still have to fill out a YMCA membership form if your swimmer isn't already a member, but at least you'll get a head start.

Practices move to the Burkland pool and follow the regular schedule as of October 1st.
